What we are doing and why?

Starting on Monday, May 13, TTC will be conducting repairs to concrete sections of streetcar track on Leslie Street between Queen Street and Eastern Avenue. If time allows, a short section of concrete on Leslie Street north of Lake Shore Boulevard will also be repaired.

The work involves removal of broken / loose concrete along the outside portion of the streetcar track and replacing it with asphalt. The repairs do not involve rail replacement as they are in good condition. Work is scheduled for completion by May 24, pending weather.

Traffic and parking restrictions

  • Crews will occupy the streetcar track allowance (centre lanes) to conduct the repairs.
  • Traffic will be maintained in the curb lanes in both directions through the work area.
  • On-street parking including the existing accessible parking space on Leslie Street adjacent to the work area will be temporarily restricted.
  • Access to driveways and laneways will be maintained from the curb lane.
  • There will be left turning restrictions across the work area.

Work hours and timeline – 7 a.m. to midnight

  • The work zone will be established around 7 a.m. on Monday and will be in place until completion.
  • Concrete excavation and removal will be conducted between the hours of 8 a.m. and 9 p.m.
  • Other activities (not involving excavation) may continue until 12 a.m.
  • Lane restrictions through the work zone will remain in place until the asphalt has adequately set before vehicle traffic is allowed to travel over the repaired areas.

TTC service

  • Streetcar operations on Leslie Street between Queen Street East and Leslie Barns will be maintained.
  • 83 Jones bus service will be maintained.

Thank you for your patience during these essential concrete repairs.
