Sheppard West Station - on-grade pavement rehab
November 2019 to December 2021
What we are doing?
As part of TTC’s State of Good Repair Program, the TTC continuously maintains assets that are close to the end of their life cycle. The bus driveway and the passenger pick up areas are approximately 23 years old and in need of repairs.
Crews will be replacing concrete in the bus terminal as well as resurfacing the asphalt along the access driveways and the PPUDO (pick up and drop off) area. The light pole luminaries will also be replaced with energy efficient fixtures in the bus terminal and the PPUDO. Part of the work will also include relining the storm sewer along the bus roadway.
Will my commute be impacted?
Starting February 17, 2020, the bus driveway will be closed as crews repave the area. An accessible temporary bus bay will be constructed just east of the station to service all routes. Customers will be asked to follow signage and use this new temporary loop until Spring 2021. Customer Service Representatives will also be present to help navigate patrons to their platform.
Will parking be impacted?
A temporary PPUDO will be constructed in the main parking lot which will result in the loss of approximately 50 stalls, effective January 20, 2020. These stalls will be restored on completion of the project. Although still accessible, customers using the temporary PPUDO will be required to travel a longer route than normal during construction. Alternate parking is available at Wilson, Finch West, Yorkdale (E-Parkade) and Pioneer Village stations. Signs and Customer Service Representatives will be in place to assist customers.
Where can I access a taxi?
The taxi stands have been temporarily relocated to the corner of Dufferin St. and Sheppard Ave West, adjacent to the north entrance of the Station. This new location provides customers with clear sight lines from a sheltered waiting area within the station entrance. Signage for the taxi stands are clearly posted.
Why will it take so long?
In order to keep the station open and buses operating as per regular schedules, the work is being completed in multiple stages. Although this minimizes disruption to our customers, it adds time to the construction schedule.
Work hours and noise
The majority of work will take place between Monday to Saturday, 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. For customer and workers’ safety, this project may involve some night work.
